The Authority has been a long-time presence within the DC Universe, either directly or indirectly. Its publisher Wildstorm was eventually folded into the DC universe, bringing The Authority face to face with many characters they were originally paying homage to, an incredibly interesting dynamic. Since then, The Authority has carved out an interesting niche for themselves within the DC Universe.
