If you've seen a movie at AMC in the last couple of years, chances are good that you've seen Aussie Nicole Kidman strut her way into an empty theater while she muses about the importance of cinema.
"We come to this place for magic," she says near the end of the pre-show commercial. "We come to AMC thears to laugh, to cry, to care. Because we need that, all of us. That indescribable feeling we get when the lights begin to dim and we go somewhere we've never seen before."
If Kidman's words touched your heart, well, now you can buy the sparkly suit she was wearing while delivering these very lines.
The gray pinstripe Michael Kors suit is currently up for auction at Sotheby's, as a part of a larger collection that also includes other important cultural artifacts, like a George Washington portrait. Given how tumultous movie turnouts have been during the pandemic, I'm sure we all agree that watching Nicole Kidman find her seat pretty much saved cinema.
Perhaps this is why Sotheby's is predicting that the suit will fetch anywhere between 5,000 to 10,000 dollars. As of this writing, and after 21 bids, any prospective buyer has to beat a price of $4,200.

"For the fashion brand’s 40th anniversary, Kors reflected on the joy of getting dressed and the positive impact of clothing," reads the description for the 2021 cashmere suit. "He set out to design timeless, yet luxurious pieces to promote confidence and in turn, make everyday events a glamorous experience."
If Nicole Kidman's crystal-studded attire doesn't fit into your budget this year, fear not: you'lll probably get another chance to appreciate it the next time you see a movie. That is, unless AMC has finished filming the proposed "sequel" to the advertisement. Apparently, the next AMC ad is "already written," says screenwriter Billy Ray.
