Earlier this year, Wizards of the Coast released a Universes Beyond set called Magic: The Gathering - Lord of the Rings Tales of Middle-earth. It was a huge hit, so it’s no surprise that a new batch of Tolkien-infused Magic cards is in the works, set to release November 3. Below, we have information about what to expect from the new sets of cards as well as links to preorder on Amazon. Let’s dive in.

MTG: LotR Tales of Middle-earth Scene Boxes

Scene boxes are a new product for Magic: The Gathering. Each one comes with three set booster packs, six art cards, and six foil borderless cards. The foil borderless cards are playable, but they also combine to show the scene depicted on the front of the box. The scenes are from epic moments in the Lord of the Rings. Each scene box also comes with a cardboard standup display, where you can put the cards to show off when you’re not playing.

MTG: LotR Tales of Middle-earth Collector Boosters

In addition to the scene boxes, you can pick up some new special edition collector boosters. Each pack contains 5 - 6 cards with a new foil treatment. Each one also includes special alt-art, alt-frame cards, including exclusive borderless card art. You can buy individual packs, each with 15 cards, or a booster box containing 12 packs.

MTG: LotR Tales of Middle-earth Jumpstart Vol. 2 Boosters

Finally, there’s a second volume of jumpstart boosters coming out November 3. It features five more themes from Middle-earth, and is only currently available in a box of 18 packs. Each jumpstart booster has 20 cards inside, including 1 thematic rare, 1 rare or mythic rare, and 2 land cards with traditional foil treatment.

The idea behind jumpstart boosters is that you and your opponent can each open two packs, shuffle the cards, and play a match. For more information on these upcoming cards, check out our exclusive MTG: LotR reveal.
