HBO has confirmed that Schitt’s Creek star Catherine O’Hara is joining the highly anticipated second season of The Last of Us in an undisclosed role.

The network made the announcement on Friday, although the news had somewhat broken earlier this week. O’Hara appeared on Watch What Happens Live to promote her film Argylle on Thursday, during which a fan asked if there was any truth to rumors that she would be on The Last of Us Season 2.

She responded that she was, in fact, in talks to join the series after marveling, “how do you know these things?”

The cast of Season 2 has been gradually shaping up over the past couple of weeks, with HBO making big role appointments like Kaitlyn Dever as Abby, Young Mazino as Jesse, and Isabela Merced as Dina. They, of course, join returning cast members including Bella Ramsey as Ellie and Pedro Pascal as Joel.

O’Hara’s memorable role as Moira Rose on Schitt’s Creek is one of her most famous, but her many other credits include After Hours, The Nightmare Before Christmas, the first two Home Alone movies, and Best in Show. She also appeared in Tim Burton’s original Beetlejuice and is set to reprise her role in his upcoming sequel, Beetlejuice Beetlejuice, set to release on September 6, 2024. As previously mentioned, she can also be seen in Argylle, which hits theaters this weekend.

We’re still waiting for an exact release date for The Last of Us Season 2, but HBO previously confirmed it’ll arrive sometime in 2025, so we’ve got a ways to go.
