Many of the best video games of all time have been sequels. The likes of Mass Effect 2, The Witcher 3 and, more recently, The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom, all expanded on what made their predecessors great to improve the franchise and reach new heights. Often, a sequel is an easy way for video game companies to make more money from an already-beloved IP so it's unusual when a big game is left as a standalone entity.
