It's not even November yet and multiple retailers are already advertising early sales well before Thanksgiving. With Amazon having a second Prime Day last month and discounts being advertised just about everywhere, it can be hard to decipher when exactly the best time to buy is. So the question is, when do Black Friday deals officially start in 2023?
You may think that the very best deals of the sale will be reserved for Friday, November 24, but it's looking like the majority of sales will kick off much earlier than that. Here's everything we know about Black Friday start dates for 2023.
When Does Black Friday 2023 Begin?
Although not every major retailer has officially announced their sale dates, we have enough information to suggest that Black Friday sales will kick off on Friday, November 17 this year. The weekend before Thanksgiving has been targeted as the start date for the Best Buy Black Friday sale as well as Costco's Black Friday sale this year.
Best Buy and Costco are the biggest retailers to officially announce their sale dates, but we expect other major retailers to follow suit. Once Black Friday sales begin for one of the major online retailers, it usually kicks it off for others. The Amazon Black Friday and Walmart Black Friday sale dates have yet to be announced for 2023, but it's highly likely they will happen at the same time.
That being said, you can still expect various "Black Friday Only" discounts that you'll only find on Thanksgiving day and Black Friday proper. These will be daily deals or some of Amazon's "Lightning Deals" that have limited quantities.
When Does Black Friday End?
If you think Black Friday ends at the end of that Friday, you'd be mistaken. Best Buy has already announced that their Black Friday sale will run through Saturday, November 25 in 2023. Most retailers will follow a similar pattern and have their Black Friday sale run right up against Cyber Monday.
When Do Cyber Monday Sales Start?
Cyber Monday sales will officially begin Sunday, November 26. Over the past few years, Cyber Monday has crept into Sunday afternoon, and the tradition will continue on this year. Best Buy's Cyber Monday sale will begin on November 26, and Amazon and Walmart will likely end up making the switch on the same day.
When exactly the flip from Black Friday to Cyber Monday across the different retailers is still a mystery, however. It could happen as soon as the clock hits midnight, or at some point later in the evening. You can check out our guide to Black Friday vs. Cyber Monday deals for more info.
When Cyber Monday Sales End?
The exact ending of Cyber Monday is never clear. Some retailers, like Best Buy, have a specific cut off date of Monday at midnight. Other retailers will maintain Cyber Monday wording in their promotions throughout the week.
For the biggest online retailers, Cyber Monday will end on Monday, November 27. However, they will then most likely follow that sale up with various iterations of a "Cyber Week" sale that will last through December 1.
