The Punisher is one of Marvel's most violent and misanthropic characters, with his dour world view and vengeful mission making him the definition of an antihero. This has gained him a lot of contention in both the Marvel Universe and real life, which is likely why Marvel is now replacing the classic version of the character. Unfortunately, said change feels fairly unnecessary given how it's being handled.
