Like any Dungeons & Dragons game, Critical Role forefronts its player characters above all others. The other figures in the setting exist to enhance the party's story rather than take the limelight themselves. Nonetheless, many of these characters get fanbases of their own due to DM Matthew Mercer's clever writing and skilled performances.
