It’s that time of year once again, when LEGO surprises us all by releasing its holiday sets a couple months before the festivities will actually begin. The 2024 LEGO advent calendars are here, and this time you get to pick from six different calendars. There are Star Wars and Harry Potter, just like every year, along with the non-licensed City and Friends ones. This year the Marvel calendar is all about Spider-Man, and there’s a bonus one that’s based on Disney properties. They’re all available to purchase now, so let’s have a look at what's in store.

LEGO Star Wars 2024 Advent Calendar
I haven't run the numbers, but my sense is that the Star Wars advent calendar is the one IGN readers buy in the biggest numbers. It's not hard to see why: Star Wars is great, and it's full of fun characters, settings, items, and ships that make great LEGO micro-builds. This year's calendar features minifigs of Luke, Leia, and Asohka, plus an adorably pint-sized AT-AT walker and TIE Fighter.

LEGO Harry Potter 2024 Advent Calendar
If I could spend Christmas anywhere (real or fictional), I legit might choose Hogwarts. It's just a cozy time of year to spend in a big boarding school for the magically inclined. This year's HP advent calendar comes with all the minifigures you'd expect, plus some great little builds, including a holiday turkey dinner.

LEGO Marvel Spider-Man 2024 Advent Calendar
Spider-Man is a rich source of Yuletide cheer, just ask the Venom minifig included in this calendar, who is wearing a scarf and eating a hotdog. A-plus, no notes. You also get Green Goblin on his Goblin Glider, Spider Gwen with a drumset, and a swinging Spidey. Good times all around.

LEGO Disney 2024 Advent Calendar
The characters you get in the Disney advent calendar come in the form of micro doll figures instead of minifigures. That means they have bigger heads and a wider variety of body types (which lets Ariel have a mermaid tale here, for instance). Other figures include Elsa, Tiana, Mirabel and Moana, along with some pets, decorative builds, and more.

LEGO Friends 2024 Advent Calendar
If you ever wondered just how much the license alone costs for licensed LEGO sets, we get a clue with the LEGO Friends and City advent calendars. They cost $12 less than the licensed ones, so somewhere in the range of $12 in a set this size would be my guess. This year's LEGO Friends advent calendar comes with a handful of characters, along with accessories that include a number of musical instruments.
LEGO City 2024 Advent Calendar
And last but not least, this year's LEGO City advent calendar comes with a variety of sweater-wearing minifigs, a sweater-wearing dog, a bunch of vehicles, and ol' Mr. and Mrs. Claus themselves. This is a great choice for kids too young to be attached to Brands with a capital B.
