Former Marvel actor Jonathan Majors has been sentenced to a 52-week in-person domestic violence intervention program after his reckless assault and harassment conviction in December 2023.

Majors faced a maximum of one year in prison for the conviction, but avoided jailtime altogether.

As reported by THR, however, Judge Michael Gaffey said Majors could face up to 364 days in prison if he fails to attend the violence intervention program, and he must also continue with mental health counseling and therapy and provide the court with updates on his treatment.

Majors was arrested on March 25, 2023, under charges of strangulation, assault, and harassment after a domestic dispute with his ex-girlfriend and was later found guilty of one count of assault in the third degree and one count of harassment in the second degree, both of which are misdemeanors.

Marvel cut ties with Majors soon after the verdict, but his attorneys said: "We are optimistic that Mr Majors will work in the film industry again soon." They therefore asked for some of his domestic violence intervention program to be conducted virtually, but Judge Gaffey said they can file for this if employment opportunities arise.

Majors' was set to be the MCU's main villain of Kang for the next several years, essentially being the new Thanos of the franchise. He's already appeared in various forms in the likes of Loki and Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania, however, leaving the future of Kang's placement in the MCU unclear.
