Chris Hemsworth is eyeing a second Transformers-related movie, as he's in talks to star in the upcoming G.I. Joe/Transformers crossover film.
Deadline first reported the news today, which IGN has confirmed with a source close to the production. As mentioned, Hemsworth is already working with Paramount Pictures and Hasbro on the upcoming animated film Transformers One, which will see him voicing Optimus Prime/Orion Pax and releases on September 20, 2024.
Plot and character details for the G.I. Joe/Transformers film are currently being kept under wraps, and it's also unclear if the role, should the deal go through, will be related to Hemsworth's work in Transformers One. Paramount officially confirmed the crossover project at its CinemaCon presentation earlier this year, where it was also revealed that Steven Spielberg would executive produce along with producers Lorenzo di Bonaventura, Mark Vahradian, Michael Bay, Tom DeSanto, and Don Murphy.

Paramount's official confirmation came after a tease at the end of last year's Transformers: Rise of the Beasts, which saw a mysterious agent played by Michael Kelly hand protagonist Noah (Anthony Ramos) a business card with the G.I. Joe logo. The Kelly character makes it clear he's trying to recruit Noah and the Autobots into the top-secret military organization, marking the first time the Transformers and G.I. Joe franchises have crossed paths in live action.
If the deal with Hemsworth goes through, it'll be yet another big franchise for the actor, who rose to international stardom with his role as Thor in the Marvel Cinematic Universe. Interestingly, Transformers One reunites him with another former MCU star in Scarlett Johansson, who voices Elita in that movie (and is in talks for another franchise of her own with the upcoming Jurassic World film).
