Blue Beetle’s cinematic debut marks a very exciting moment for DC Comics. A classic Golden Age character who isn’t tied to the Justice League is finally making it to the big screen. Not only is this fantastic for Blue Beetle himself, it’s also proof that studios are willing to take chances on lesser-known comic characters. However, the fact Blue Beetle remains relatively unknown outside dedicated comic books circles is a shame. Debuting in 1939's Mystery Men Comics #1 by Will Eisner Charles Nicholas, Blue Beetle been around longer than many other more famous characters, like Wonder Woman or Green Lantern. Among his storied history, Blue Beetle's solo run in the 1980s became one of the very best series of its time.
