Bethesda elevated the nature of open-world game design with 2011's The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim, and even after nearly 12 years since its initial PS3, Xbox 360, and PC release, the action RPG is still a joy to play. It's unquestionably one of the most enduring video games in the medium, especially considering its several re-releases and two remasters—for better or worse.
