December may not be a huge month in terms of new LEGO sets coming out, but lots of new sets have been announced and are available for preorder. We’re talking new Star Wars, Disney, and Harry Potter sets, among others. Check those out below, plus a few sets previously exclusive to the LEGO Store that are now available on Amazon. Let’s take a look at what’s new in LEGO for December 2024.
New LEGO Star Wars Sets
- The Mandalorian Grogu with Hover Pram - $99.99
- Return of The Jedi Home One Starcruiser - $69.99
- Attack of The Clones Acclamator-Class Assault Ship - $49.99
Out January 1 are these three new LEGO Star Wars sets. There are two spaceship vehicles in the form of a starcruiser and an assault ship from the films. Those are LEGO sets for adults, aimed at the 18+ age range, and meant for display rather than play. But for my money, the Grogu with Hover Pram set is the most exciting, because it’s a buildable Baby Yoda you can put in a buildable hover pram. You can pose the little guy’s head and ears, and it comes with a Sorgan frog he can “eat.” Love it.
New LEGO Harry Potter Sets
- Diagon Alley Wizarding Shops - $199.99
- Malfoy Manor - $149.99
Also available January 1 are these two LEGO Harry Potter sets. One is a lovely micro-scale depiction of the Wizarding shops in Diagon Alley. Because of the tiny scale, it packs a lot of shops and detail into a set that, while expensive, isn’t outrageous. It includes 12 micro-figures, including the main four heroes, plus Weasley siblings, Draco Malfoy, Mr. Borgin, and more.
LEGO The Endurance Is Now Available
The one notable set to debut around early December is LEGO The Endurance, a gorgeous re-creation of an Antarctic exploration vessel. In our We Build LEGO The Endurance feature, LEGO expert Kevin Wong wrote, “This model of The Endurance is LEGO at its most serious and austere. There are no minifigures, no self-referential bits of whimsy. It's all masts, sails, riggings, and ship's boats, depicted without a hint of irony. But that actually works in its favor – the end result looks realistic and classy."
LEGO Horizon Adventures Aloy & Varl vs. Shell-Walker & Sawtooth
The now-retired set LEGO Horizon Forbidden West Tallneck is one of my favorite video game tie-ins. This upcoming set continues that tradition, but it’s based on the LEGO-ified game that’s based on Sony’s Horizon games. It’s a great set for play that has Aloy and Varl minifigures, plus buildable robo-dinosaur enemies.
LEGO The Nightmare Before Christmas Is Now Available at Amazon
Previously only available at the LEGO Store, this awesome Nightmare Before Christmas build is now available at Amazon. For details about it, check out our We Build LEGO Nightmare Before Christmas feature.
LEGO Disney Moana 2 Heihei
Not the world’s smartest bird, at least in the original Moana, Heihei makes a hilarious and great-looking build for LEGO fans who like the Hawiian-set sequel. The movie has been smashing box office records since it came out last month, but this build doesn’t release until March 1. Check out our favorite LEGO Disney sets for more like this.
LEGO Botanicals Pretty Pink Flower Bouquet Is Up for Preorder
LEGO flower sets are always popular among our readers, both to use as decorations and to give as gifts. This bouquet might be my favorite of the bunch. It’s out in January, so it won’t do as a Christmas gift, but you can always hold onto it until Valentine’s Day.
New LEGO Technic Car Sets
- Corvette Stingray - $59.99
- Ferrari SF-24 F1 - $229.99
The LEGO Technic car series is a popular one for automobile aficionados. The Corvette Stingray is one of my favorite cars, and while I wish this brick-built version were more visually curvy like its inspiration, it’s probably the best that could be done at the $59.99 price point. Those interested in an even faster vehicle can pick up the Ferrari SF-24 F1 race car, which is an 1:8 scale model of the real thing, featuring working steering and suspension, plus a detailed engine and gearbox.
