Rick and Morty has taken on a second life at Oni Press, with the animated series spawning numerous new comic book spinoffs that explore the further adventures of Rick Sanchez and his grandson. Now Rick and Morty are being swept up in their first proper comic book event, as Oni launches a new limited series called Rick and Morty Finals Week.

Rick and Morty Finals Week is a series of five bimonthly, interconnected one-shots that combine to tell a story with major consequences for the Rick and Morty omniverse. The first of these is Rick and Morty Finals Week: SheRick Holmes and Mortson. As the title suggests, Rick and Morty are about to do their best impression of Sherlock Holmes and Watson.

Head down to the slideshow gallery below to get an exclusive first look at all three covers for Rick and Morty Finals Week: SheRick Holmes and Mortson #1:

SheRick Holmes and Mortson #1 is written by Daniel Kibblesmith and drawn by Patricia Tamontano. Future creative teams will include Christof Bogacs and Beck Kubrick for issue #2, Jake Black and Marc Ellerby for issue #3, James Asmus and Jim Festante and Suzi Blake for issue #4 and Alex Firer & Fred Stresing for issue #5. Here's Oni's official description for issue #1:

The worst week of Morty’s life starts right... NOW! In Rick and Morty Finals Week: SheRick Holmes and Mortson #1, it's Monday, and Finals Week is off to a terrible start. Morty needs a little time off from adventuring in order to study... until Rick announces it’s time for them to team up like that other great literary duo: Sherlock Holmes and Watson. Transported to a locked-room murder mystery in space, Morty suspects Rick isn’t looking to spend time with his Watson, but rather find his own Moriarty...

"Crafting the interconnecting storyline of one raucous week in the Smith/Sanchez house for the first-ever Rick and Morty comics event was a delight, and I'm thrilled to welcome writer Daniel Kibblesmith to kick the series off by asking the hard-hitting questions, like is there a better way to study for your English final than acting out a protracted closed-room murder mystery in space with your deranged, alcoholic grandpa?" said Oni's Senior Editor Bess Pallares.

Rick and Morty Finals Week: SheRick Holmes and Mortson #1 will be released on February 21, 2024.

Rick and Morty recently wrapped up the first half of Season 7 on Adult Swim. In IGN's review of Episodes 1 and 2, Samantha Nelson wrote, "Justin Roiland’s departure hasn’t changed Rick and Morty. The yet-to-be-identified actors playing the title characters sound pretty much identical to Roiland and the first two episodes of season 7 offer the same mix of sharp meta humor, emotional depth, and grotesque animation that has always made Rick and Morty great, delivering bombastic standalone adventures that offer just a bit of character growth."

The new Rick and Morty voice actors have since been revealed, though the Internet is divided on whether Mr. Poopybutthole still sounds like his old self.
