Xbox has begun testing the evolved form of Xbox Live Gold christened Xbox Game Pass Core ahead of its launch in September.
According to the company’s latest blog post published on Wednesday, Xbox Insiders, or Live Gold members in the Alpha and Alpha-Skip ahead ring, will be able to preview Game Pass Core, which was announced last month. During the testing period, they’ll have access to a select titles that are part of the Game Pass Core library, including Psychonauts 2, Hellblade: Senua’s Sacrifice, State of Decay 2, and Doom Eternal.
The full library will have only 25 games, but the upgraded service will retain online multiplayer support and subscription costs of $10 a month or $60 a year, depending on your preference.
“The full library will become accessible at launch on September 14,” said Xbox’s senior product manager Lily Wang. “You will also start to see Xbox Live Gold branding updated to Game Pass Core. If you’re already a Gold member, everything will update automatically for you – there’s no action needed.”
Microsoft said it’s important to keep in mind that you may still see Live Gold branding in certain areas of the service while other areas are upgraded to Game Pass Core as changes roll out throughout the month. But don’t hesitate to report the issue if you still see Live Gold branding somewhere.
For the retro gaming fans, if you remain subscribed to Game Pass Core or Game Pass Ultimate, you’ll continue to access any Xbox One games you redeemed via Games with Gold in My Games and Apps. Plus, you can keep any Xbox 360 games redeemed through Games with Gold in your library regardless of your subscription status.
