The Crown is ending its reign this year, and Netflix has now revealed that the 2005 royal wedding of Prince Charles (now King Charles III) and Camilla Parker-Bowles will feature in the sixth and final season.

Netflix extended an invitation to its subscribers ahead of the final season of The Crown by sharing a photo teasing a forthcoming storyline. The image shows a document with an order of service "following the marriage of His Royal Highness The Prince of Wales and Her Royal Highness The Duchess of Cornwall" at Windsor Castle.

"After six seasons, seven years and three casts, The Crown comes to an end later this year. Here's a hint at what's to come in our final season," the show's official account posted on X alongside the photo.

The final chapter of The Crown will reportedly usher in a new era for the monarchy when it debuts later this year, as Netflix notes that the last run of episodes will cover Charles and Camilla's union and the early relationship of Prince William and Kate Middleton as well as the tragic death of Princess Diana in 1997.

"As The Crown enters a new decade, Prince William starts at University in St Andrew's, determined to lead as normal a life as possible while he still can," reads the official logline for the sixth season of the long-running royal drama. "Also beginning life as a university student is Kate Middleton from Berkshire. As the pair meet for the first time on campus, a new romance and a new future for The Crown begins."

Dominic West and Olivia Williams will reprise their roles as Charles and Camilla, respectively, in the forthcoming season together with several other returning cast members, including Imelda Staunton as Queen Elizabeth II, Jonathan Pryce as Prince Philip, Lesley Manville as Princess Margaret, and Claudia Harrison as Princess Anne.

The penultimate season of The Crown received a 71% approval rating from critics on Rotten Tomatoes. IGN also packed on the praise for the fifth season in its 9/10 review, calling it an "amazing" installment that "features a strong new cast while exploring old wounds and some of the monarchy's darkest hours".
