Nvidia is leveling up the gaming experience for RTX 20 Series GPU owners, as a new GPU driver now allows these older RTX GPUs to use RTX Video Super Resolution upscaling technology to upscale old blurry videos.
In the latest blog post, Nvidia confirmed that RTX Video Super Resolution is now supported on RTX 20 series graphics cards, including the RTX 2080 Ti and the RTX 20 Super series. If you are unfamiliar with RTX Video Super Resolution, it's an upscaling feature that was released on RTX 30 and 40 series graphics cards earlier this year. Using AI and Tensor Cores, RTX Video Super Resolution allows users to improve the quality of videos watched in a Chrome or Edge Browser in addition to VLC with support to up to 4K resolution.

Before the announcement, Nvidia explained in a FAQ page that RTX Video Super Resolution did not support RTX 20s series cards at release because "many of the algorithms for RTX Video Super Resolution need to be refactored for these 20 series GPUs."
RTX Video Super Resolution finally getting support for RTX 20 series GPUs adds a bit more life and additional mileage for those still rocking the graphics card, which saw a surge in popularity in late 2021 when Nvidia reintroduced the RTX 2060 with a 12GB of RAM variant as a way to ease the high demand of the new RTX 30 series GPUs.
RTX VIdeo Super Resolution is just one of many ways Nvidia is leveraging AI to provide more incentives to buy its GPUs. Additional examples include its most popular gaming-centric tool, Deep Learning Super Sampling (DLSS), and an Eye Contact feature for Nvidia Broadcast, which uses AI to deepfake your eyes to make it look like you are staring directly into the webcam.
