If a zombie apocalypse ever happened, I’d be straight out of luck. But if the zombie apocalypse didn’t actually involve zombies (or lurkers or infected or whatever it is zombie media calls their zombies these days) and instead involved cats that were turning humanity into cats in order to take over the world? Yeah, that sounds good to me.
In upcoming anime Nyaight of the Living Cat, based on the manga of the same name by Hawkman and Mecha-Roots, a cat-pocalypse has stormed the world. Touching a cat turns people into cats — so no matter how cute they are, do not pet the cat.
…unless you want all your worries to melt away and live the blissful life of a feline. Not to shame the humans in the main cast, who are clearly fighting for their own survival, but I simply think being a cat would be superior to being a human. I, for one, welcome our new feline overlords.
Nyaight of the Living Cat comes from OLM, the studio behind The Apothecary Diaries. Legendary filmmaker Takashi Miike (Audition, Ichi the Killer) serves as executive director.
The anime is set to stream on Crunchyroll sometime in July.
