Netflix has released a new trailer for its highly-anticipated spinoff Castlevania: Nocturne, with confirmation the series will premiere on September 28.
Castlevania: Nocturne is set during the height of the French Revolution in 1792 and focuses on Richter Belmont, who previously served as the protagonist for the Castlevania games Rondo of Blood and Symphony of the Night.
Here's the setup: "In a remote part of western France, the counter-revolutionary aristocracy has forged an alliance with a terrifying Vampire Messiah, who promises to ‘eat the sun’ and unleash an army of vampires and nightcreatures to crush the revolution and enslave humanity. Annette, a sorceress from the Caribbean, seeks out Richter Belmont, last descendant of the long-fabled family of vampire hunters, to lead the resistance."
Expect eight episodes, each 25 minutes long. The trailer is below:
Castlevania: Nocturne follows the fourth and final season of Netflix's well-received Castlevania series, and is set in the same universe. Netflix's Castlevania anime was first released back in 2017 and proved to be a hit, opening the door for plenty of new, animated video game adaptations. Now Netflix houses many of these animated shows, including Dota: Dragon's Blood, The Witcher: Nightmare of the Wolf, and Cyberpunk: Edgerunners.
