In Dungeons & Dragons, any player can roll up a functional character with a filled-out stat sheet and a handful of weapons and feats, but a character will only come to life as a compelling, unique person with the right roleplay in between fights. The tricky part is that some classes in D&D feel pigeonholed, like the cleric class, and players might assume their cleric is "supposed" to live up to familiar clichés and personal archetypes.
