The first trailer for Season 2 of the Game of Thrones prequel House of the Dragon has arrived and it teases the bloody and brutal war that is set to arrive on HBO in summer 2024.
The trailer begins with Otto Hightower saying, "errors were made in the hours following King Viserys' death." For those that have seen the finale of Season 1, that is an understatement of the highest order.

What follows is a glimpse of the next chapter in House of the Dragon, complete with shots of our beloved dragons. We could explain to you what it all means, but I think we will leave it to Rhaenys Targaryen to let you know what to expect from Season 2.
There is no war so hateful to the gods as a war between kin, and no war as bloody as a war between dragons," Rhaenys said.
Yes, these new eight episodes that will make up House of the Dragon's second episode will indeed show us the beginnings of the brutal Targaryen civil war that will become known as The Dance of the Dragons.
HBO also revealed new cast members for this new season, and they include Clinton Liberty as Addam of Hull, Jamie Kenna as Ser Alfred Broome, Kieran Bew as Hugh, Tom Bennett as Ulf, Tom Taylor as Lord Cregan Stark, and Vincent Regan as Ser Rickard Thorne. Previously announced new season two cast includes Abubakar Salim as Alyn of Hull, Gayle Rankin as Alys Rivers, Freddie Fox as Ser Gwayne Hightower, and Simon Russell Beale as Ser Simon Strong.
Just yesterday, HBO revealed new posters of Olivia Cooke's Alicent Hightower and Emma D'Arcy's Rhaenyra Targaryen, the two women who were once beloved friends and now help lead two parts of the same family vying for the Iron Throne.
In our House of the Dragon Season 1 review, IGN said: "Early on it sometimes felt too faithful to its predecessor, but after ten episodes House Of The Dragon has forged its own identity and established itself as a worthy prequel to Game Of Thrones. That’s largely thanks to strong writing, a wildly overqualified cast, and a veritable flock of dragons."
