When Eric Barone sat down to begin developing Stardew Valley in 2011, he had no idea the impact it would eventually have on the world. With a computer science degree from the University of Washington Tacoma in hand, he originally saw developing the game as an opportunity for him to improve his programming skills and build a resume for future jobs. His primary inspiration for the game was the Story of Seasons series, which he felt was not getting any better over time, and he thought he could improve the game in his own way. Finally, after four and a half years of hard work, he released Stardew Valley, which has now been cited as one of the greatest games of all time.
