Star Wars Hutts — giant, slug-like gangsters inspired by mafia dons — held great power in the galaxy's criminal underworld for hundreds of years. They controlled a region of the galaxy, "Hutt Space", which contained hundreds of planets, including Toydaria, Dandoran, and Klatooine. By the time of the Clone Wars, the Hutts' influence extended further into the Outer Rim, granting them control of crucial hyperspace lanes sought after by both Republic and Separatist forces. Though not strictly aligned with any Republic, Separatist, Rebel, or Imperial power, the Hutts were certainly powerful, wielding control over a dangerous corner of the galaxy.
