When it comes to long-standing horror movie franchises, it can be hard to imagine what they would be like without their main antagonist causing murderous mayhem in each movie. A Friday the 13th without Jason Vorhees or a Halloween without Michael Myers seems like it would be a detriment to the series, especially with such iconic figures being the faces of their films. And yet, the Saw franchise with its puppet-presenting villain in Jigsaw took an unexpected turn when John Kramer, the main villain pulling the strings in the Jigsaw Murders, was killed at the end of the third movie. Although anyone could hide behind the face of the Billy puppet and become the puppeteer for the next series of traps and tests under the guise of Jigsaw, the fact remains that John Kramer's death took the Saw film series in a completely different direction.
