Jujutsu Kaisen burst onto the scene in the early 2020s as a fantastic new shonen action anime, and alongside Chainsaw Man and Hell's Paradise, it formed what has become colloquially referred to as the Dark Trio. In many ways, Jujutsu Kaisen is a conventional shonen action series in a similar vein as Naruto and Bleach, but it also features strong horror and fantasy elements that separate it from the rest of the genre. Jujutsu Kaisen may not have dragons and kings, but it still makes great use of familiar fantasy tropes to tell a story.
