Bleach is a shonen "big three" anime that, like its rivals Naruto and One Piece, features several groups of powerful and memorable villains for the heroes to fight. Shonen action series are often at their best when they feature villain squads like the Phantom Troupe, the League of Villains, and the Akatsuki, but Bleach is 1 for 2 in this department. The Espadas set a high bar for Bleach's villains, one that the Sternritter never cleared.
