Saying that an anime was inspired by Dragon Ball is a lot like saying that carbon-based life is inspired by molecular structures. Even if someone doesn't know the show, they can recognize the parts that have invaded all corners of popular culture. It makes complete sense too; the Dragon Ball franchise reinvented shonen anime starting back in the 1980s and has had an indelible impact globally, and not just on anime either. From the Fusion Technique to the Kamehameha to Super Saiyans, there is no way to deny the fact that Dragon Ball lives inside the minds of many people completely rent-free.
