DC Comics did more work to make comics mature than any other mainstream comic company. From the early '80s to the end of the '90s, DC brought in serious talent, and they took the denizens of the DC Multiverse and wove densely packed narratives around them. Superheroes and supervillains proved fruitful ground for a variety of topics, including philosophy.
