The Jurassic World movies heavily focused on genetically engineered dinosaur hybrids, switching things up somewhat from the Jurassic Park predecessors. The gap between Jurassic Park III and the first Jurassic World was over a decade long, with several ideas being formed during this interim. The hybrid Indominus rex was one of these, but it wasn't the only fictional dinosaur envisioned for the new movies.
