Adult Swim has had major ratings success with its "Checkered Past" block, airing reruns of past Cartoon Network series like Dexter's Laboratory and Ed, Edd n Eddy. However, it seems that it's also decided to pass on Pibby and Friends: Apocalypse, which would've allowed the block to find a similar success from nostalgia on a far more ambitious level. The story concept of Pibby and Friends: Apocalypse (or alternatively, Learning with Pibby) went viral in 2020. Despite the massive following it still has nearly three years later, the network has been receiving some negative criticism from viewers for not picking it up as a full series.
