Two years after Warner Bros. concluded the Harry Potter series with The Deathly Hallows: Part 2, the studio announced the Wizarding World would continue with the Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them film in hopes of achieving similar success. Franchise veteran David Yates would return to direct his fifth Harry Potter film, with series creator J.K. Rowling penning her first screenplay. Like its predecessor, the Fantastic Beasts films would also comprise a strong cast, led by Academy Award winner Eddie Redmayne. The new film series had a lot of things going for it early on.
