Exclusive Here for Blood Trailer Promises a Violent Wrestling Horror Comedy

Have you ever wondered what a gory version of Vin Diesel's babysitter action-comedy The Pacifier would look like? That's what Daniel Turres' Here for Blood appears to be at first glance. You've got wrestling moves, masked assailants, and plenty of bloody teases hinged on a single question: How hard can babysitting really be? When you're stuck in a horror comedy, that answer is a lot more complicated than you might expect.

Here for Blood stars the jacked-as-hell Shawn Roberts, who you should remember as a picture-perfect Albert Wesker from Paul W.S. Anderson's Resident Evil franchise. In the film, Roberts plays Tom O'Bannon, a "rowdy pro-wrestler" who has to cover his girlfriend's babysitting shift since she's swamped with college exams. Tom meets 10-year-old Grace (Maya Misaljevic) and thinks he's in for a night of pizza and hangouts, but crazy cultists who descend upon the house turn the evening into a bloodbath.

Here's your first glimpse of Here for Blood as we premiere the trailer exclusively on IGN:

This isn't the first time professional wrestling and horror cinema have collided (examples include Monster Brawl and Wrestlemassacre). There's always been a unique cross-section between horror and wrestling fans that seems like an untapped market, which Here for Blood hopes to capitalize on. Roberts can be seen laying the smackdown on multiple goons throughout the trailer, which gives us hope that brutal demises will follow. It's already being dubbed the best "horror comedy wrestling movie" after a brief festival run, which provides even more hope.

There's also a fun little Psycho Goreman vibe (in moderation), as a small child must rely on her hunky protector to stay alive. I'm looking forward to the chemistry between Roberts and young star Maya Misaljevic, in addition to the heavy-metal horror influences hinted at throughout the trailer. None other than Twisted Sister frontman Dee Snider appears to be lending his voice to a skeleton puppet, presumably related to the cult's practices. Count me in for a horror comedy that isn't afraid to get a little wacky between suplexes.

The film will be released exclusively through the horror-only streaming service Screambox, so you'll have to sign up for an account to catch Here for Blood. It's a service I've been recommending for a bit now, but if this is your first introduction to Screambox, it's worth giving it a shot. Much like Shudder, Screambox is focused on curating a streaming catalog that fulfills all tastes of horror and releases a handful of exclusive titles every month. Most famously, Screambox was behind Terrifier 2, just as an example of pedigree.

Here for Blood premieres on Screambox and in theaters on February 9, 2024, where it'll hopefully bring the pain and laughs by the fistful.
