The DC Extended Universe is now becoming the DC Universe, with James Gunn rebooting the cinematic continuity, starting with Superman: Legacy. The previous continuity was definitely contentious, with the dark Snyderverse having many controversial takes on classic DC characters. Despite these issues, there were some characters that the movies from director Zack Snyder actually got right.
