Rockstar Games' GTA 6 trailer has already surpassed predecessor Grand Theft Auto 5's reveal trailer's views, reaching 101 million views in less than two days.
The highly anticipated debut trailer, which was due to premiere on December 5 but was posted on December 4 following a leak, has just crossed over onto the colossal 101 million number. And while that's a lot of views under any metric, it also means the new trailer has passed GTA 5's reveal from 2011, which accrued 100 million views over the last 12 years.
The GTA 6 trailer — which reintroduces fans to Rockstar's take on Miami, Vice City, as well as the greater state of Leonida, a fictional Florida — had already dwarfed some pretty strong rivals in terms of trailer views. In fact, after just 15 hours, it had more views than the reveal trailers of Cyberpunk 2077, Red Dead Redemption 2, and The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild combined.
They each had 28.6 million, 23.1 million, and 16.1 million views respectively. And for further comparison, GTA 6's trailer also dominates Hogwarts Legacy at 34.2, Baldur's Gate 3 at 2.7, Final Fantasy 16 at 4.6, Resident Evil 4 Remake at 3.1, God of War Ragnarok at 19.4, and Spider-Man 2 at 30.8 million.
In fact, the GTA 6 trailer is record-breaking. The X/Twitter account for Guinness World Records confirmed it is the most-viewed video game reveal on YouTube over a 24 hour period. It's also the most viewed non-music video on YouTube in 24 hours, easily overtaking the previous record set by YouTuber Mr Beast.

The GTA 6 trailer was awaited with bated breath from the gaming industry and finally arrived with plenty of classic Rockstar satire. The 90-second trailer featured a ton of intricate details (here are 99 things IGN spotted) and plenty of references to wild and wacky real life events too. It also showed off GTA 6's dual protagonists, Jason and Lucia, and the internet has already grown obsessed over the latter.
While the game was revealed alongside a 2025 release date for PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X and S, PC players were left frustrated, though not necessarily surprised, that their platform was left off the list.
They weren't the ones a little peeved though, as several developers from Rockstar itself took to social media to express their frustration at the trailer leaking early. In fact, the entire industry shared their disappointment that the exciting moment was dampened. Several streamers were also hit with content strikes and takedowns in the wake of the leak.
And while most of those 101 million viewers likely cannot wait for Grand Theft Auto 6, some will seemingly never be satisfied. Why? GTA 7 was trending online as soon as the trailer dropped.
