When it comes to PC gaming, the display can be just as important as the PC itself. If you have a powerful desktop with the latest and greatest graphics card, you need a gaming monitor that makes proper use of all that power. Whether that’s a beautiful 4K monitor with high refresh rates or a solid 1080p monitor with extra bells and whistles is up to you, but a good gaming monitor can make all the difference.
With October Prime Day, aka Prime Day 2, aka Big Deals Day ending tonight, it’s the perfect time to think about upgrading your computer monitor situation. Brands like Samsung, Acer, Dell and more have traditionally offered discounts on everything from high-end to budget gaming monitors. If you’re in the market for deals on gaming monitors, then Prime Day 2 is one of the best times to buy outside of Black Friday.
What Gaming Monitor Deals Are Happening for Amazon Prime Day 2?
For Amazon's October Prime Day, the biggest deal on gaming monitors has to be the 48" LG 48GP900-B 4K OLED gaming monitor for only $799.99. That's $700 off the original $1400 MSRP and the lowest price we've ever seen for this monitor. This is essentially an LG OLED TV that has been modified for PC use. More deals on gaming monitors for October Prime Day come from Samsung, Dell, ASUS and Acer; including top-of-the-line OLEDs, Mini-LEDs, QLEDs, Nano IPS, IPS, and VA monitors with key gaming features like fast response time, high refresh rate, G-SYNC compatibility. See below on some incredible deals unique to today.
Do Other Retailers Have Gaming Monitor Deals on Amazon October Prime Day?
Amazon is running with their own Prime Day in October 2023, which isn't something other retailers necessarily planned for. That said, Best Buy has price-matched or even beat some of Amazon's prices for gaming monitors during this short sale period. See some of the biggest savings today:
Dell and HP traditionally have some decent discounts during these sales days that are worth checking out too, but it's likely going to be best to wait until Black Friday for these brands' own sales. The Dell Black Friday in July sale has come and gone, but will be back for Black Friday offerings on PC, laptop, and gaming monitor deals.
Today's best deal from Dell in the world of gaming monitors is 20% off the Alienware curved OLED gaming monitor ($799.99 versus $999.99).
Should You Buy a Gaming Monitor on Prime Day or Wait for Black Friday?
The truthful answer here, is maybe. Black Friday may be bigger in terms of total number of sales, but Prime Day(s) tend to be fairly comparable when it comes to tech. If you’re looking for a discount on anything other than the latest gaming monitor models, you should be able to find a really good price. It's hard to predict if the prices will be an all-time low or comparable to Prime Day for gaming monitors, so if you don’t want to wait until Black Friday in November to get yourself a gaming monitor for a discount, you really don’t have to.
That being said, there can be some pretty big price differences in high-end gaming monitors between Prime Day and Black Friday. The Samsung Odyssey Neo G9 for example dropped to its absolutely lowest price on Black Friday last year and hasn’t gone that low since. So if you’re holding out for an upgrade to one of the top of the line gaming monitors, it may behoove you to wait until Black Friday 2023 to save an extra $100.
