NOW is running a deal on its Sky Sports Day Pass which will grant users a free 12 months of Sky Sports Premier League that is viewable via the NOW app. Yes, this deal is real, but the catch is it'll only work on smartphones. What you're essentially getting is Sky Sports Mobile Pass for the season.
The Sky Sports Day Pass is £11.98, so that's pretty much £1 per month over the next year to have all the Premier League games shown on Sky in the palm of your hand. It's not a bad deal by any means, it just comes with that rather big caveat of being mobile-only.
From our view, use this as your on-the-go, out-and-about, Premier League pass for the year. £12 for that privilege isn't bad at all, and definitely worth considering for the season ahead. This is also a limited-time deal that NOW can take down at any time, so jump on it ASAP if you want to get the most value out of it before the season ahead.
Stuff You Need to Know Before Buying
Your mobile membership won't activate automatically, and you'll get an email within 10 days detailing its activation (it's usually a lot faster than this).
You get five channels with the Sky Sports Mobile Pass, Premier League, Racing, News, NFL/ Action, and Arena. So you are limited on what you can watch with it. Premier League will likely be the most appealing, but there are a couple of things to go over there as well.
Not all football matches broadcast on Sky will be shown on Sky Sports Premier League. Sky is notorious for putting one game on its Premier League channel and another on its 'Football' channel. Furthermore, you won't get any of the Carabao Cup or EFL games that are shown on Sky either.
The pass does not have the capability to cast to a TV using either Apple's AirPlay or Chromecast. Moreover, connecting to a TV or monitor via a USB-C to HDMI converter will also disable the app's video capabilities. You also can't use a folding phone like the Galaxy Z Fold.
Finally, while you can register the Mobile Pass on up to six separate devices (smartphones), keep in mind that streaming is limited to a single phone at any given time.
When Does the Football Season Start Again?
The FA Community Shield will be shown for free on ITVX in the UK (August 6 at 4 PM BST).
The new Premier League season is nearly upon us. The world's most-watched football league returns to our screens on the weekend of August 11, just two weeks' time. Before the league gets started though, there is the small matter of the pre-season showpiece match to determine who wins this year's Community Shield.
Manchester City and Arsenal will duke it out on August 6 at Wembley Stadium to see who takes the honors home this year. Otherwise, the English Football League is also getting started this weekend from August 5, with teams from the Championship, League One, and League Two all kicking their seasons off. The 2023 Women's World Cup is also enterting the Round of 16 stage this weekend; England will face Nigeria on August 7 at 8:30 AM BST.
