The Marvels latest trailer hides a tease for the long-awaited arrival of the X-Men in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, or so fans reckon.
Spoilers for The Marvels and Ms. Marvel are ahead.
In the trailer, below, Monica Rambeau reveals “there’s a different reality bleeding into ours”. Fan speculation revolves around this line relating to the X-Men. We know Ms. Marvel is a mutant, per the ending of the Ms. Marvel TV show. And last month, a The Marvels trailer included the text "What Comes Next", with all the letters fading out except for the letter X.
But eagle-eyed fans have spotted another possible X-Men hint in the trailer. The potential blink and you’ll miss it tease, which arrives at the 1 minute 45 seconds mark, is a small image on the bottom-right of a screen that looks like the classic X-Men logo. Or is it just a directional pad?
Fans also think Storm from the X-Men is in the same shot, walking past Monica Rambeau in a suit that looks like it could belong to the famous mutant weather controller, once played by Halle Berry. If it’s not Storm, who is it? Perhaps it’s Monica’s mother, Maria Rambeau, who died from cancer two years after The Snap. We’re talking about a different reality bleeding into our own, after all.
Are the X-Men in The Marvels? Maybe. After all, in the final The Marvels trailer, Nick Fury says: “They’re here.” Perhaps he’s talking about the X-Men, too.
