The great Seal once sang, "Time keeps on slipping into the future." In the case of Loki Season 2, time keeps on slipping into the past, as the new season's premiere has moved up a day to Oct. 5.
Disney+ announced in a post on Twitter/X that Loki Season 2 has changed its start date from Friday, Oct. 6 to Thursday, Oct. 5. The date change is also tickling Miss Minutes' fancy, as the show will begin streaming on the platform at 6 p.m. PT/9 p.m. ET.
The amazing Loki is back.

The time change for Loki Season 2 takes a page out of the scheduling for Ahsoka, as big Marvel and Star Wars shows traditionally debuted at midnight Pacific in the past. Ahsoka, however, was the first to buck that trend, moving its episode release time six hours earlier to 6 p.m. PT/9 p.m. ET.
This has some benefits and drawbacks - and it really depends on where you are in the world and when you watch your shows. For fans in the U.S., that 6 p.m. PT/9 p.m. ET timing is obviously more beneficial as you can watch the episode before you go to bed and avoid getting spoiled the next morning. Fans in other parts of the world, however, may not prefer the new time, but it's apparently worked out well enough for Ahsoka for Disney to implement the change elsewhere.
The new airing schedule may also be done as a way for Disney to encourage more subscribers to its Disney+, as the streaming platform lost 2.4 million subscribers between October and December 2022 per its Q1 2023 financial earnings report, and has shed some shows from the platform. It will also increase subscription fees from $10.99/month to $13.99/month starting Oct. 12, and follow Netflix's footsteps by cracking down on password-sharing in 2024.
