If you're in the market for an excellent, future proofed gaming TV but want to keep your budget to under $1K, then take a look at the 2022 65" Hisense U8H TV. For Amazon Prime Day, it's marked down to $839.99 on Amazon, which is the best price we've seen ($60 cheaper than Black Friday). This is a great TV for current-gen PS5 and Xbox Series X gaming.

65" Hisense U8H 4K Mini LED Gaming TV for $839

HDMI 2.1 for 4K @ 120Hz

The UH8 was Hisense's flagship 2022 TV. It easily competes and surpasses similarly priced models from more well known brands like Samsung, LG, and Sony. The biggest upgrade from 2021 is the new Mini-LED panel, which combined with quantum dot technology (QLED) makes for a markedly better and brighter picture than the previous generation. The UH8 is a ULED TV, meaning it's equipped with full-array LED backlighting with local dimming and supports wide color gamut. Mini LEDs allow for even more precise local dimming because the controller zones are smaller and more numerous.

The Hisense U8H has gamers covered. It has a native 120Hz panel and HDMI 2.1 inputs. That means it can pass true 4K @ 120Hz on PS5 and Xbox Series X consoles and RTX 30 series equipped gaming PCs. The U8H also supports variable refresh rate (VRR), which is this TV's version of adaptive sync technology, as well as auto low latency mode (ALLM), where the TV switches to a lower latency for games.

How does this TV compare to the 2023 model?

The new 2023 U8K is an outstanding TV, and it's discounted for Prime Day as well. It's priced at $1099.99, so you'd be paying about $260 more. Like the 2022 U8H, the new 2023 U8K boasts a Mini-LED panel with quantum dot technology (QLED) however the new U8K boasts almost double the dimming zones compared to the U8H. That does not mean the U8K handles anything twice as well as the U8H. It just means the U8K will be able to offer a bit more precise control over black levels. I don't think it's worth the $270 premium.
