One of the biggest announcements from CES this year is the MSI Claw: the company's first handheld gaming PC to compete with other devices, such as the Steam Deck. While the Claw will be released in the second half of this year, MSI is confident in the product and is already preparing future refreshes of its handheld gaming PC.

During an interview with IGN, System Product Managing Director Clifford Chun told us MSI is "anticipating" the release of model refreshes of the Claw down the road. "So just like our laptops, our aim for users who use this is going to be roughly about two to three years, because every two, three years, game titles do demand a lot more," Chun told IGN when asked about the lifespan of its forthcoming handheld. "So, this will be only the first version of our Claw. We are anticipating to come out version 2, version 3, version 4 down the road, and it's already in the pipeline."

Aside from gaming accessories and PC hardware parts, MSI also makes gaming laptops, which are regularly updated when new GPUs and CPUs are released. MSI told us we should wait to expect the next version, as a model refresh will depend on the technical advancements made in processing and graphical power. Of course, MSI can make more subtle refreshes in the display, as Valve recently did with the release of the Steam Deck OLED.

Our interview in full with MSI goes live later this week. For more information on CES, check out our roundups of everything announced and the coolest gadgets we have seen so far.
