Walmart is offering a pre-built ASUS ROG Strix G15 gaming PC equipped with a GeForce RTX 3080 GPU for only $1299.99. It's also sold and shipped directly from Walmart and not a 3rd party marketplace vendor. This is an outstanding price for a nicely decked out RTX 3080 gaming PC that will able to hand any game you throw at it, even at 4K resolution. It's certainly the least expensive RTX 3080 PC we've found at the moment and a great value for a student who still wants to get some gaming sessions in for back to school.
ASUS ROG STRIX RTX 3080 Gaming PC for $1299.99
This PC comes equipped with an Intel Core i7-12700F CPU, GeForce RTX 3080 GPU, 16GB of DDR4 RAM, and a 1TB SSD. The 12th gen Intel Core i7-2700F Alder Lake CPU has a Turbo boost clock speed of 4.9GHz with 12 cores, 20 threads, and a 25MB cache. The Alder Lake CPU is only one generation old and it is still very powerful. It will definitely not bottleneck your GPU in the vast majority of games out there and it excels in both gaming and productivity tasks.
The RTX 3080 is a great pick for up to 4K gaming without spending an egregious sum of money. Although now a generation old, the GeForce 3080 is certainly no slouch. It was the first card that could realistically handle 4K gaming (with the right settings). Fast forward to the present day and the RTX 3080 can still easily hold its own in any game at 1080p and 1440p. Compared to the current crop of GPUs, it's almost identical in performance to the RTX 4070. I myself have run an RTX 3080 equipped system paired with a 4K display for quite some time and I played Elden Ring, Genshin Impact, and Hogwarts Legacy just fine at a steady 60fps.
