Prime Video has announced a Legally Blonde prequel series called Elle.
The series follows Elle Woods, protagonist of Reese Witherspoon’s 2001 hit movie Legally Blonde and its 2003 sequel, Legally Blonde 2: Red, White and Blonde, as a high school student.
Laura Kittrell (High School, Insecure) is set as the showrunner, creator, and executive producer, with Reese Witherspoon, Lauren Neustadter, Lauren Kisilevsky, and Marc Platt also serving as executive producers. Elle is set to premiere exclusively on Prime Video in more than 240 countries and territories worldwide, Amazon said. No release window was mentioned, or news on who will play Elle.

Legally Blonde originally released with Witherspoon in 2001 and has gone on to become a classic for 2000s film fans. In addition to spawning a sequel in 2003, the series eventually went on to receive a highly regarded musical adaptation. In 2009, a TV spin-off called Legally Blondes aired on the Disney Channel.
It’s a big day for Prime Video, with the debut trailer for The Lord of the Rings: The Rings of Power Season 2, as well as announcements for the live-action Spider-Man Noir series starring Nicolas Cage, the Tomb Raider series from Phoebe Waller-Bridge, Mr. and Mrs. Smith Season 2, and The Boys Season 5.
