At this year's D23, Disney revealed a first look at the live-action Lilo & Stitch movie, as well as a new Summer 2025 release window.
While no true footage was shown, we did get a glimpse at the live-action Stitch model, which you can see below. Everyone's favorite mischievous extraterrestrial life-form virtually burst through the screen during Friday night's tentpole presentation, although that was the extent of what was revealed.

Disney also released a brief tease with the live-action Stitch shortly after the D23 presentation concluded, which you can see below.
Newcomer Maia Kealoha will be playing Lilo in the film, joining a cast that also includes Zach Galifianakis in an unspecified role. The live-action take on the 2002 animated movie was announced all the way back in 2018, and the new look and release window is one of the most significant updates on it since then.
Marcel the Shell With Shoes On's Dean Fleischer Camp will direct Lilo & Stitch, although Crazy Rich Asians and Wicked director Jon M. Chu was attached at one point. It was originally supposed to start filming in 2020 before being hit with numerous delays.
We don't know too much more about the remake, but we can assume that the script from Chris Kekaniokalani Bright will largely follow the plot of the original. That movie followed the young girl Lilo as she adopts Experiment 626, or Stitch, forming a close bond with the alien that was once supposed to be a weapon of chaos and destruction.
