Final Fantasy's summons have grown dramatically as iconic characters within the series, but none of them are as popular as the iconic Ifrit. A deity controlling the power of fire, Ifrit has appeared in every Final Fantasy game since summons were first introduced in 1990's FFIII, and its role in each game's narrative has only grown more central over time. In Final Fantasy XVI, Ifrit takes center stage, though much of its backstory still remains as mysterious as ever. However, some of this lack of information might be cleared up by simply looking at the inspiration for Ifrit's character in the mythos of FF16.
