Furiosa: A Mad Max Saga's release in theaters on May 24 is easily one of the year's most anticipated and, to the relief of Mad Max fans, the prequel got an enthusiastic reception at its Cannes Film Festival world premiere last night. Riding on the wave of that and rave reviews, fans received six minutes of footage of the wasteland prequel film ahead of its release.

The six minutes of Furiosa footage, which was uploaded by Odeon Cinemas on its official X/Twitter account, acts more as a highlight reel of the prequel film rather than an uninterrupted sequence of its opening moments. And we should note that there might be some light spoilers both in the below footage and the description of it.

In it, we see Furiosa’s kidnapping from the Green Place by wasteland bandits, as well as how she came under the charge of Fury Road villain Immortan Joe in her quest for revenge against Chris Hemsworth’s villainous Dementus. Furiosa’s warpath gets added fuel in the tank thanks in part to the footage’s implication that (Again, potential spoiler here!) Dementus crucified Furiosa’s mother after she attempted to free her from his clutches. Suffice it to say, Dementus has a furious storm coming his way.

The six-minute wasteland primer footage also contains a glimpse at some of the raucous action moviegoers have in store for them. Notable scenes laden within the sneak peek include a young Furiosa commandeering the iconic war rig with a party of frenzied war boys and a ridiculous chase scene with a man riding a motorcycle in the sky via parachute.

Like its predecessor, Furiosa: A Mad Max Saga is receiving rave reviews from critics. In fact, as of the time of writing, Furiosa has an 87 percent fresh score on Rotten Tomatoes.

In our review, we gave the film a perfect 10 out of 10, saying, “George Miller’s Furiosa: A Mad Max Saga weaves a hero’s journey of epic proportions, ushering in a powerful reflection on what it means to live and love in a dying world.”
