DC Comics has always placed a strong value on legacy heroes, with a number of characters assuming mantles in the stead of others. Plenty of their best story arcs followed these heroes assuming the mantles of their mentors, old friends, or family members. While some of these have made for brilliant changes that earned a spot in the hearts of readers, others just left people confused by the turn of events.
