For October Prime Day 2023, Amazon is offering the powerful XFX Speedster MERC 310 Radeon RX 7900 XT video card for only $699.99. It normally retails for $819.99. This is the lowest price we've seen so far for an RX 7900 XT. It's a great card that can comfortable handle 4K gaming.
XFX AMD Radeon RX 7900 XT Video Card for $699.99
The Radeon RX 7900 XT is AMD's second most powerful GPU. It is more powerful than any previous generation card released, and that goes for NVIDIA's offerings like the RTX 3090 and 3090 Ti as well. It's roughly on par with the new GeForce RTX 4070 T and it's also cheaper; right now the least expensive RTX 4070 Ti is a Zotac model for $769.99, or roughly 10% more. The RX 7900 XT comes equipped with 20GB of VRAM so it scales very well with resolution. It can comfortably manage any game at 4K with consistent framerates of 60fps and beyond.
This particular XFX RX 7900 XT "Ultra" model has a nice overclock. The stock RX 7900 XT has a boost clock of 2,394MHz but the XFX Ultra has a boost clock of 2,535MHz. That's an increase of 141MHz, or about a 6% performance bump. That's not bad at all, especially considering this is the least expensive RX 7900 XT GPU.
If You Need Ray Tracing, Stick with NVIDIA
AMD Radeon cards are outstanding alternatives to the NVIDIA GeForce cards in terms of both price and availability. For most gamers who want to maximize their performance for their dollar, these AMD GPUs are the way to go. However, if you're set on playing 4K games with ray tracing enabled, then you'll want to stick with NVIDIA. That's because the GeForce cards admittedly perform far better than their Radeon counterparts when it comes to ray tracing. Ray tracing is a form of rendering that allows for more realstic lighting effects. It makes light sources and shadows look better, but at the steep cost of GPU resources.
