The 75th Primetime Emmy Awards will now take place on January 15, 2024, the Television Academy and FOX jointly announced on Thursday amid ongoing strikes from two of Hollywood's largest unions.

The awards show originally had an airdate of September 18, 2023. However, the dual strikes from the Screen Actors Guild-American Federation of Television and Radio Artists (SAG-AFTRA) and Writers Guild of America (WGA) have caused ripple effects throughout Hollywood, prompting a postponement of the Emmys.

"The show will broadcast Live coast-to-coast from the Peacock Theater at LA Live and will honor the talented performers, writers, directors and craftspeople whose work has entertained, inspired and connected viewers across the globe throughout the past year," Fox stated, announcing the scheduling change.

Nominations were announced last month for the Emmy awards. The Last of Us made history as the first live-action video game adaptation to earn major consideration from the awards body. The hit HBO series received nods for Pedro Pascal and Bella Ramsey's performances as well as for outstanding drama series.

HBO's hugely popular drama Succession from creator Jesse Armstrong holds this year's top spot with 27 nominations (including Best Drama Series), followed closely by The Last of Us with 24 nods. The White Lotus and Ted Lasso also feature among the top contenders, with 23 and 21 nominations, respectively.

Fox will broadcast the three-hour awards show on Monday, January 15, 2024 (aka Martin Luther King Jr. Day), starting at 8pm EST / 5pm PST. Additionally, the Creative Arts Emmy Awards will take place at the Peacock Theater at LA Live over two consecutive nights on January 6 and January 7, 2024, with an edited presentation airing on January 13, 2024, at 8pm EST on FXX.
