Disneyland's Members-Only Restaurant Club 33 Is Getting a Film Adaptation

Club 33, Disneyland's elite members-only restaurant, is reportedly getting the big-screen treatment from Goosebumps writer Darren Lemke and Deadpool & Wolverine director Shawn Levy's 21 Laps Entertainment.

As reported by THR, Levy, Dan Levine, and Dan Cohen will be producing this film that is said to "exude the tone and vibes of Clue and Night at the Museum." IGN has reached out to Disney for comment.

The story is said to center on a young detective named Kim who lives in a present day New York and receives a mysterious invite to Club 33 which, in the film's universe, exists outside of time and space. Furthermore, the members of this exclusive club are some of the greatest individuals to ever exist, from "geniuses, royalty, and history-makers."

A murder is committed when Kim arrives at Club 33 and the members look to her to solve the crime. Kim must step up to do so but, despite her being brilliant, she just "can't seem to get our of her own way."

This Club 33 film is just one of the Disney Parks-based film adaptations being developed, and it now joins the likes of Ron Moore's Disney+ series based on the Society of Explorers and Adventures. Ryan Reynolds is also working on a feature film about the fictional organization that originated in Tokyo DisneySea.

As for Club 33 itself, it was founded in 1967 in Disneyland Park and was modeled after executive VIP lounges that Walt Disney encountered at the 1964-1965 New York World's Fair. While he helped create its vision, Walt actually never got to visit Club 33 as it first opened on June 15, 1967, in Disneyland's New Orleans Square about six months after he passed. It was also originally the only place at Disneyland that served alcohol.

Today, it is one of the most high-end experiences you can have in the wide world of Disney. However, there is a long waitlist and it is estimated that individuals may have to pay upwards of $25,000-$70,000 to join in addition to paying $15,000-$20,000 per year.

There are now many other Club 33 locations to visit, however, including Tokyo Disneyland and Shanghai Disney Resort. There are also Club 33 locations at Disney World's Hollywood Studios, EPCOT, and Magic Kingdom.
